Red Star Belgrade's players jumped onto the old Soviet tank to celebrate making the Champions League

RED STAR BELGRADE'S players celebrated qualifying for the Champions League by riding through the streets on a TANK.

And the party atmosphere was added to as flares were fired off the decommissioned Soviet made T-54.

The side drew their qualifying second leg at home to Swiss outfit Young Boys 1-1.

But thanks to a 2-2 draw in the first leg, it meant the Serbians have made it into Europe's premier competition.

And after fans paraded the tank prior to the crucial clash, the players decided to get on board with the idea.

But the armoured vehicle's presence at the football game has not gone down well with neighbouring Croatia.

CROATIA NOT HAPPY

Croatian media said the tank is "a clear provocation" and "a scandal" and demanded that Uefa react.

The real battle tank was used during the bloody breakup of Yugoslavia in the 90s and fans decorated it in red and white club colours.

A Red Star fan website said the tank symbolises their slogan: "Machine Has Started."

Serbian interior minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said the tank "replica" was inspected and no explosive ordinance that would represent danger to the public was found.

The tank display comes a week after masked assailants attacked two bars in Croatia as ethnic Serbs watched Red Star's first leg-match against Young Boys on TV.

At least five people were injured and the pubs were smashed to bits.

The incident triggered heated exchanges between Croatian and Serbian politicians.
