The four-time winner on the US top tier, 45, had been playing blackjack and having dinner with friends after missing the cut in the John Deere Classic.

But after being hooked by cops, Allenby then mysteriously claimed he had "no idea" about thewhole thing.

That came despite police confirming he was taken to jail.

A Rock Island County Police Department spokesperson said: "Robert Allenby was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass from Jumer's Casino on August 13 at about 2.29am.

"He was transported to Rock Island County Jail and we do believe he was bonded out."

But Allenby said: "I don't know anything that's going on. There's nothing to be said about it. Nothing happened. I have no idea."

The Aussie is no stranger to controversy having claimed he was the victim of a brutal mugging 18 months ago in Hawaii.

Allenby was found with a cut eye and bruises all over his face after allegedly having his wallet nicked during a kidnapping outside a strip club.

And he fired ex-caddie Mick Middlemo after he disputed his former boss' version of events.

Allenby spent less than an hour in custody before posting 160 bail from the Illinois jail.
