HENRIK STENSON and Phil Mickelson are sluggingit out for the Claret Jug.
But what do those who have already won the Open do with one of golf's most iconic trophies when it's in their sole possession?
Well, among other things, it's been filled with ladybirds, broken and almost done for speeding.
Darren Clarke was one of the most popular winners when he triumphed at Royal St Georges in 2011.
But he almost gave the trophy a criminal record when he was caught speeding on his way to the Irish Open.
Amazingly, the cops let him off - but it was on one condition.
Ryder Cup skipper Clarke said: "The police got their photographs taken with it. They were very kind to tell me to slow down and carry on."
Rory McIlroy missed his title defence last year but made the most of his time with the Claret Jug by filling it with Jagermeister.
Mickelson poured a bottle of the 30,000 Romanee Conti Burgundy in it after his triumph at Muirfield in 2013.
Police again cameto the trophy's rescue when it was in the United States.
Former Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman got a call from the cops in the middle of the night.
They thought the Jug had been stolen and had the female suspect held in a pub.
But it turned out that the woman, Alissa Herron, was sister of PGA Tour player and Tom's mate Tim.
Lehman had actually taken the trophy to a charity dinner, forgotten about it, and then had it given to Alissa by his wife Melissa.
Lehman had more bad luck when he was getting ready to travel to Scotland to defend his title a year later.
His kids had been playing with the cup and broken it.
He said: "My eyes nearly popped out of my head.Id been away at a tournament and when I came in the door, it was the first thing I saw.
"It was sitting at a 15-degree angle. It sat on my mantel and nobody was supposed to dust it, never mind touch it.
"But the kids were playing with the Claret Jug and a mini-Ryder Cup Trophy and one of them dropped it."
Luckily a silversmith made the repairs and it was back to normal.
Padraig Harrington has two Claret Jugs but it was after winning his first one at Carnoustie in 2007 that it was filled with ladybirds by son Paddy.
The Irishman said: "The ladybirds went in. It wasnt that Paddywas fussed about it but I insisted that we had to do it as he had said it. Theladybirds and Claret Jugwill always go together for me."
