GOLFERShawn Stefani wasless worried about birdies and eagles - and more concerned about snakes and alligators - as he battled tomake the cut at the Honda Classic in Florida.

He was so determined to stay in the tournamentthat when his ball found water he stripped off and waded in - despite the risk posed by the dangerous reptilesknown to inhabit thePGA National.

Fans were worried he might get nibbled by a snake - or worse

But the brave golfer managed to play his shot

When Stefani's sixth-hole tee shot hit the water, rather than accept apenalty drop, the Texanwaded in.

Butinstead of playing the rest of the round in wet clothes, he took them off.

It initially seemed that Stefani's couragehad paid off, as he managed to get his ball back onto dry land.

But unfortunately for the 35-year-old, his luck didn't last.

He fluffed the putt for par, dropped another shot at the nextand missed the cut.

Stefani later explained his actions on Twitter, saying."Not sure if I should apologize... just fighting til the end to make the cut."
