VALENCIA have been charged by Uefa because of a tiny Adidas logo on their neck warmers.

The La Liga club will find out on October 18 whether or not they will be fined for the logo on their kit at Old Trafford last night.

Uefa allows a manufacturer's logos on playing shirts, shorts and socks as well as a sponsor on the playing shirt and warm-up top.

But Valencia players could be seen wearing branded 'snoods' in Manchester despite the fact it was around 12C in the Theatre of Dreams.

The logo may have been tiny but the rules are the rules.

It is one of the more minor charges meted out by Uefa in their quest to keep sponsorship and kit regulations tight in the Champions League, their premier club competition.

Teams are allowed one sponsor's logo on a training top, no larger than 200cm-squared, while a sponsor on a jacket cannot be more than 20cm-squared.

Regulations are violated from time to time by clubs, and a manufacturer's logo is one of the more minor offences any club would be charged with.

Clubs are also not allowed to advertise for tobacco products or alcoholic beverages over 15 per cent abv.

When playing in Uefa competitions, clubs also have to adhere to national regulations as well, which is why Liverpool had to play with no sponsor when they played in France when Carlsberg were their headline partner.

The country has outlawed alcohol and tobacco sponsorship at sporting events since 1991.

Valencia ended up getting a 0-0 draw with Manchester United, as the home side were panned for yet another under-par performance.

United were also charged with arriving at the ground late and a late kick off as they played out the stalemate.

The La Liga club were charged with setting off fireworks in the away end at Old Trafford, with both clubs set to hear their fate on October 18.
