LEONARDO BONUCCI claims he rejected Manchester United for a return to Juventus in the summer.
The world-class centre-back has revealed he was targeted by Jose Mourinho despite struggling to impress during a season-long spell at AC Milan.
Bonucci shocked Italian football fans when he turned his back on serial winners Juve for a move to their rivals in 2017.
But the defender failed to settle at the San Siro and eventually made a stunning return to Turin, with Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara heading in the opposite direction.
However, Bonucci could very well have ended up at Old Trafford instead.
Mourinho made it known he wanted to strengthen his backline, and also targeted Bayern Munichs Jerome Boateng.
Bonucci concedes he was flattered by the Special Ones interest and could have ended up moving to United, but he couldnt resist the lure of playing for Juve once again.
Speaking on the eve of his sides Champions League clash with the Red Devils, Bonucci told The Telegraph: Basically there have been some possibilities both with Man City and United.
Yes [there was an offer from United at the end of last season]. No [there was zero chance of going once Juventus became interested].
I feel at home. Here I really do my best, I just push myself to the max and thats something I didnt manage at Milan.
