CONTROVERSIAL TV commentator Peter Alliss has revealed he could soon quit as the BBCs Voice of Golf, at the age of 86.
The veteran pundit, who is part of the BBCs team covering The Masters at Augusta despite his age, is preparing to hang up his microphone after 56 years covering the sport for the BBC.
Asked recently about when he might retire in an interview with Newsweek, he replied: I don't know, it could be this year."

In the interview he added: When I get to the point where I see something and I cant respond, Im interviewed and I have no words to say, this (tapping his head) is getting fuddled Ill go before Im pushed.
Golf commentator Alliss has caused outrage in the past with his outrageous statements about women.
In 2015, the BBC apologised for a comment Alliss made during The Open when a camera zoomed in on Zach Johnsons wife Kim Barclay as he lined up a crucial putt.
Allis said: Shes probably thinking, If this goes in I get a new kitchen.
Twitter went made. One critic wrote: Who said the dinosaurs died out millions of years ago?
The veteran commentator also caused outrage last year when he said the fight for womens rights in golf had buggered up the game for a lot of people.
He insisted that Muirfield was right to bar women members saying women should marry members instead of trying to become them.
He has also referred to womens equality campaigners as bra-burning merchants.
He also told Radio Times in 2015 Equality for women a few people battled away to get it, they got it, and they have b******d up the game for a lot of people.
Alliss however is unrepentant.
He told Newsweek about covering The Masters this weekend: Ill try not to be too much of a dinosaur, but remember: Dinosaurs are making a comeback. Were going to clone them, you know.
No matter how you wrap it up, women will never be able to do things that men can do.
If we want to be equal, are you going to get a woman fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world [in] boxing? Are you? Could you?
If you want perfect equality. I dont like to see women punching each other in the chest.
I dont like it. I think it will cause irreparable damage.
They talk about footballers heading balls but punching each other in the breasts for six minutes doesnt seem a sensible thing to do.
Theres certain things that women do that we cant do, as far as Im concerned.
Those are my views. I think women are more delicate than men. I like holding chairs for women.
I enjoy the company of women. I dont want to be bullied by them. I dont care for macho women, I dont care for them very much. And yet theyre prevalent today, and very prevalent in some cases. And very forward.
Alliss has a new women co-host in Eilidh Barbour, 34, at Augusta, as Hazel Irvine is standing down as the BBCs golf presenter.
Alliss, son of golfer Percy, is a former professional golfer who won 31 tournaments and played in the Ryder Cup eight times in a career that ran from 1947 until 1975.
He famously gave Sean Connery golf lessons before the Scot starred in the 1964 James Bond movie Goldfinger.
Alliss became the BBCs main golf commentator in 1978, and was renowned for his witty asides. He lives in Hindhead, Surrey, with his second wife Jackie.
