Sport Book Service | Tiger Woods smashes a driver in his Sunday red as he shows comeback is bang on track

TIGER WOODS smashes a driver in his familiar Sunday red to show his comeback appears bang on track.

The former world No 1 continues to recover from a fourth back surgery in April.

He has not played competitively anywhere since February, when he was forced to withdraw from the Dubai Desert Classic in agony.

But the 14-time Major champion declared he is "making progress" after tweeting a video of his swing.

Woods, 41, looked to be going at the ball near full-pelt but still appeared a little bit ginger upon completion of his action.

Woods' latest clip was his third video in eight days.

An earlier offering showed him hitting an iron in slow motion and another had him clipping a long iron alongside PGA Tour pro Kevin Chappell.

It was just over two weeks ago that Woods said he may never return to competitive golf.

Speaking in his role as assistant captain at the Presidents Cup, he said: "I don't know what my future holds for me."

Woods has battled personal issues including an addiction to painkiller drugs in recent months.

He was pulled over by police asleep at the wheel of his car earlier this year and went on an "intense" course of therapy to recover.

Woods hosts the Hero World Challenge in December but that currently looks too soon to make his comeback.

More likely is next April's Masters, which Woods has won four times but not played in since 2015.
