IF ever Spurs needed to send out a statement, it is in the San Siro tonight.
Saturdays defeat to Liverpool was the worst performance I have seen from them under boss Mauricio Pochettino.
And if Tottenham play like that against Inter Milan, they are going to be in serious trouble.
But equally, this could be the perfect match to get their confidence and their mojo back.
This is not one of the great Inter teams of yesteryear. They are going through massive changes and lost 1-0 at home to newly promoted Parma at the weekend leaving them 15th in Serie A.
So what a great game for Spurs to show they can bounce back.
If they are to have any chance of getting out of their tough Champions League group, a good start is vital.
Inter, though, will no doubt also be looking at Tottenhams defeats to Watford and Liverpool and fancy their chances.
It seems like something is happening at Spurs right now that nobody can quite put their finger on.
I understand they have had problems with the new stadium project, lack of signings and players coming back tired from the World Cup.
But other World Cup stars who have had the same amount of rest, like Eden Hazard, are performing with the sort of verve and vibrancy you would expect from them.
So that excuse is wearing a little bit thin, especially as nobody was talking about tiredness when they beat Manchester United 3-0 at the end of last month.
There are also worries about talisman Harry Kanes fitness but we must cut him some slack. When you watch him, he does not look as sharp as we have seen him before.
But people dont take into consideration the fact his fiancee has just had a baby.
How many other players coming back from Russia this summer have recently had a new addition to the family?
We dont know what his sleeping patterns are like at the moment so that might have something to do with his form.
But just like his Spurs team, Kane can silence doubters by putting on a show at the San Siro.
Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool: Michel Vorm horror show gifts Wijnaldum and Firmino goalsPochs men will be keen to improve on last terms Champions League run, which ended with defeat to Juventus in the last 16.
But when you look at their group, containing Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven, you have to think they would be happy just to reach the knockouts.
For me, last seasons finalists Liverpool are much better equipped to challenge on two fronts.
When you look at their squad, it is a lot stronger than Spurs now. I know some say Liverpool should sack off Europe so they can concentrate on trying to win the title.
But I genuinely believe they have a good enough squad to fight for both.
Liverpools new-look back-five will be tested tonight against Paris-Saint-Germains Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani.
Yet what a great team to test their mettle against.
Neymar has a lot to prove. For me, hes gone to Paris for a jolly up, so there are a lot of questions for him to answer.
It will be interesting to see if he answers any of those at Anfield. It should be a brilliant game.
