SportBook Service | Stoke star Ramadan Sobhi will support Liverpool pal Mohamed Salah in Champions League final despite being Real Madrid fan

Ramadan Sobhi will stop supporting Real Madrid to back pal Mo Salah in the Champions League final

RAMADAN SOBHIS red and white Stoke kit sums up his dilemma ahead of the Champions League final.

The Egyptian, 21, is a lifelong Real Madrid fan who, as a child, spent his spare time on the streets of Cairo trying to copy Cristiano Ronaldo.

But tomorrow night the Potters winger will bin his Los Blancos shirt and set up camp in the red corner of Egypts World Cup training headquarters.

Then he will shout himself hoarse, roaring on the man he regards as his footballing brother Liverpools 44-goal phenomenon Mo Salah.

And Sobhi insisted the Reds Ballon dOr contender, 25, is a humble hero whose ego is far removed from Ronaldos.

He said: People genuinely worship Mo because they simply see the footballer scoring goals on the field.

However, outside of football he is a kind, helpful guy who treats people really well. He is a humble man, a great man.

He is definitely the most famous person in Egypt but not only in our country Mo has become the most famous person right across the Arab world, with nearly five million followers on Twitter.

Whenever he goes home he is hero-worshipped and there are always crowds flocking to be near him.

He is like a rock star but that image couldnt be further away from his own personality.

My relationship with Mo is very good. We play together for Egypt and we talk together and meet up at every opportunity.

He is not only a friend and a team-mate, he is more like a big brother to me.

He is doing really well and I hope his season gets even better on Saturday, even though he is playing against my boyhood team.

When I was a kid I loved Cristiano Ronaldo and watched him all the time. Even now he is my favourite player.

I need a half-and-half scarf for the night! I would really like it if Mo played well, scored and won the match for Liverpool.

Thats why, for the first time in my life, I will hide my Real Madrid scarf and colours Ill make this sacrifice for Mo!

Sobhi said he would love to be in Kiev for the final but has important World Cup business to attend to.

He said: Im with the Egyptian team in our training camp. We met up on May 22 and have a match against Kuwait on the eve of the final on Friday, so I will be with the squad.

The team will all gather together to watch the final. I would say the squad would be divided 50-50 between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

But I think we would all love it if Mo Salah managed to score and do something really memorable because it would be amazing for Egyptian football.

Mo has really lifted the nation and given Egyptian fans hope and pride ahead of the World Cup.

My profile is nowhere near as big as his but it is getting bigger because Ive been playing in the Premier League and am going to the World Cup.

It makes me happy that people want to talk to me in the street when I go home.

It makes me feel as if I am achieving something and making people proud. But I know I can achieve much more.

Whether that will be with relegated Stoke City remains to be seen as a new Championship era awaits under Gary Rowett.

Sobhi added: We promise Stoke fans we will do our best next season to get back to the Premier League.

I am still happy here. However, if an opportunity turns up, and Stoke agrees with it, then yes, I would take the option to move to the right club.

Until then, Sobhi has a scarf to hide and a Champions League final to watch.
