REAL MADRID centre-back Sergio Ramos has been slapped with a two-match Champions League ban by Uefa.
The Spanish centre-back was charged earlier this week for receiving a deliberate booking against Ajax in the closing stages of the match.
Ramos' booking was a ploy to get himself banned for the return leg against the Dutch side on purpose after he needlessly fouled Kasper Dolberg.
That would leave him free from suspensions for the rest of the Champions League as Real look to win the competition for the fourth straight season.
The Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body also fined Los Blancos 1,300 after fans set off fireworks at the Johan Cruyff Arena in February.
Speaking of Ramos, the statement: "The CDEB has decided to suspend the Real Madrid CF player Sergio Ramos for two Uefa competition matches for which he would be otherwise eligible for clearly receiving a yellow card on purpose.
"The two-match suspension includes the automatic one-match suspension for the repeated cautions."
After picking up the caution, Ramos boasted: "Considering the result, I would be lying if I said I had not forced the yellow card.
"It is something I had in my mind and it is not about underestimating Ajax or assuming we are already through.
"In football, you have to make tough decisions and I decided to do it."
