ENGLISHace Chris Wood is ready to go through the pain barrier at the USPGA to safeguard his chances of clinching a Ryder Cup debut in September.
Wood, 28, is fourth in the qualifying list and has already bagged more than enough points to have secured a place on any previous European team.
But he refuses to take anything for granted.
And a after a neck injury prevented him from adding to his tally at the Scottish Open andthe Openitself, he is determined to put the issue beyond doubt at Baltusrol this week.
He explained: The neck problem came on just before the Scottish Open but I put it down to a bad nights sleep and decided to give that event a miss to make sure I was raring to go at Troon.
But it got worse and I couldnt play a single practice round before the Open, and it was a kick ion the guts when I had to pull out after just 12 holes of the tournament itself.
My first thought was how was this going to affect my Ryder Cup chances. I had a scan done, and it showed I had an inflamed joint, which apparently happens to a lot of golfers - especially if you are as tall as I am!
