IAN POULTER has been clocking up the miles on his 2million Ferrari 288 GTO but insists he still has plenty left in the tank for golf.
Fresh home fromtaking his luxury motor on a road trip around the south of France, Poulter plans to play seven tournaments in the next eight weeks, starting with the Irish Open which begins today.
The Ryder Cup hero, 43, owns 12 Ferraris, maintaining they are brilliant investments, which explains why he is normally reluctant to put them through their paces.
Poults said: They look fantastic and its difficult to just see them sitting in the garage when they are meant to be driven.
But they are an asset and appreciating all the time. I look at them as works of art. It was nice to take one out and let it stretch its legs a bit though.
It did very well, I have to say, especially for a car thats 35 years old and only travelled 2,400 miles.
I put another 600 miles on the clock and to enjoy three or four days away with it was great.
I didnt reach top speed because I had my wife, Katie, sitting next to me and shes not the best of passengers.
I had to be careful around those mountain roads it wouldnt be good slipping off the side!
"But we did open it up a bit on the odd occasion. Now Im ready to put a few more miles on my own clock!
