MAURICIO POCHETTINO says life at Tottenham is like TVs House Of Cards.

But they might want to change it to the White House after boss Poch compared the club to the hit US political drama, set in Washington DC.

Spurs season has certainly had as many twists and turns. From the heartache caused by their failure to make a single signing in the transfer window to the love interest in their manager from Real Madrid.

Pochettino has also had to deal with his captain Hugo Lloris drink-drive scandal, an injury crisis and below-par performances from his team.

His love story with Madrid may now be over for the time being but the plot of their stadium shambles and the mystery of when it will finally open rolls on.

And they could see the final credits roll on their Champions League campaign if they fail to beat PSV tonight at Wembley.

No wonder Pochettino admitted yesterday it feels like it has been one problem after another at Tottenham this term.

The Argentine boss said: Yes, yes, its been a weird season. But I look so happy now because I start again the new season of House of Cards.

I watched three episodes yesterday. I learn a lot from this series. I recommend it.

Asked how it compares to Spurs, he said: Its similar, eh!

I think it represents very well sometimes how we are. Sometimes football is so political and its going in this direction.

Pochettino showed all the skills of a congressman or senator as he was inevitably asked which character in the series he was most like.

He said: Who? I dont know. Its difficult, eh, to say because...its dangerous to say this or this one. Its fiction but you can translate it in many businesses the things that happen.

It is probably just as well he did not answer that question as the lead role was played by Kevin Spacey... before he was fired over allegations of sexual abuse.

Pochettino will also have to rely on understudies against the Dutch tonight with six of his stars ruled out.

Keeper Lloris is suspended after being sent off in last months 2-2 draw in Eindhoven.

Mousa Dembele damaged an ankle in Saturdays 3-2 win at Wolves and joins fellow midfielders Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier on the injury list alongside defenders Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen.

UEFA gave the Wembley pitch the green light last night following an inspection.

The hallowed turf looked dreadful when Manchester City won 1-0 there last week following three successive weekends of NFL games.

Pochettino said: I think it has improved a little bit. They are working so hard to improve it.

Ive seen a few pictures. It looks better.

But the condition will be the same for both teams so we cannot complain.

Tottenham have just one point from their opening three Group B games and need a win to keep alive slim hopes of reaching the knockout phase compounding the misery of the indefinite delay in the opening of their new stadium.

The club and chairman Daniel Levy have been left even more embarrassed by a pre-planned poster campaign which takes a swipe at rivals Arsenal and Chelsea by hailing their new stadium as the only place to watch Champions League football in London.

Oops!

Pochettino admitted: We are all disappointed were not playing Champions League in the new stadium.

There was a lot of possibility about playing there but it wasnt in our hands to deliver it. It was complicated because of many things we couldnt manage.

When you build a house or an extension its always difficult to say when it will be finished.

Weve had problems and its been delayed, delayed, delayed.

We feel sorry and painful for our fans but for us, too.

Every day that goes on its more expensive for the club but the person who is most worried and feels most sorry for not delivering on time is the chairman. Its very painful for him.

All we can do is help by winning games.

If we can win against PSV and have the possibility of going to the next stage maybe we can play in March in the Champions League in the new stadium.
