BARCELONA have been charged by Uefa after their fans 'threw objects around the stadium' during their Champions League win against Roma.
Before 20 minutes had been played, Barca fans launched yellow balloons from their seats that ended up on the pitch and the referee was forced to halt the game.
It is understood the act was a sign of home fans' support for the Catalan government members who remain in prison.
Before the match, a separatist group distributed around 10,000 balloons, urging its followers to "be responsible and "not let them go on to the field".
They insisted the protest was to be staged "in the face of an atrocious repression against our people and our politics."
The case will be heard by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 31, the same day as their enquiry into the trouble before Liverpool's clash with Manchester City.
The charge relates to a breach of Uefa Article 16 (2).

Luis Suarez scored his first Champions League goal in almost 12 months as Barca took control of the tie.
Roma found themselves 2-0 down after Daniele De Rossi and Kostas Manolas had put past their own goalkeeper, despite holding their own at the Nou Camp.
And the tie looked to be over as a contest whenGerard Piquetapped home a third for the hosts.
But, undeterred, Roma pushed for an away goal to take back to the Italian capital, and duly found it asEdin Dzekoslotted past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
However,Suarez's late fourth means this there is surely no way back for the Giallorossi.
The result flattered the hosts, who were way below their usual best while Roma will feel seriously hard done by having produced an impressive performance.
