SERGIO GARCIA has named his daughter Azalea, after the 13thhole at Augusta where he made a miracle par in the final round to spark his Masters victory charge.
The Spanish stars wife, Angela gave birth to Azalea Adele Garcia yesterday, and he immediately posted a picture of his first child on Twitter.
The holes at Augusta are all named after the plants or bushes that dominate their stretch of the course, and it was at the par five13ththat Garcia breathed new hope into his title challenge last April.
He had to take a penalty drop when his wild drive landed in an azalea bush. But he almost holed his fourth shot, and knocked in the putt to avoid a damaging bogey.
He followed up with a birdie at the 14th, eagled the long 15th,and added another birdie at 16 to force a play-off with Justin Rose.
Garcia then clinched victory with yet another birdie on the first extra hole, but admitted the 13thhad proved the turning point.
