SportBook Service | Arsene Wenger confirms hes open to Bayern Munich talks with Arsenal legend favourite to take charge of German giants

Wenger has been out of management since leaving the Gunners in 2018

ARSENE WENGER is yet to discuss becoming Bayern Munich's new manager but has confirmed he is ready to hold talks with the German giants.

Speculation is rife that the former Arsenal boss is being lined up for a stint in Germany until the end of the season.

Initial favourite Ralph Rangnick is not expected to succeed sacked coach Niko Kovac and Wenger, now the odds-on favourite, has already thrown his hat in the ring.

When asked earlier in the week if he is interested in returning to the game with Bayern, the Frenchman replied: "Of course."

And while commenting on Wednesday night's Champions League action, Wenger again admitted that he is open to the opportunity - but talks have not yet begun.

The 70-year-old told BeIN: "I never refuse to talk to Bayern Munich because I know the people who have led the club for 30 years.

"I nearly went to Bayern a long, long time ago.

"At the moment, I haven't talked to them at all.

"We have not talked to each other and I don't know [if talks will occur]."

Bayern's desire for an interim coach to pave the way for a long-term replacement in the summer, possibly Thomas Tuchel or Erik ten Hag, could prove a sticking point.

BeIN host Angus Scott tweeted after talking to Wenger that a "caretaker role wouldn't be suitable".

In addition, some reports suggest Bayern are not considering the veteran with current caretaker Hansi Flick potentially being handed the reins for the rest of the campaign.

The former midfielder got off to a winning start against Olympiacos on Wednesday and next faces Borussia Dortmund in a key Bundesliga bout.
