CHRIS WOOD hopes there will be a different kind of sting in the tale when he returns to Australia for the World Cup of Golf.
His first round at Melbournes Kingston Heath course nine years ago was cut short on the fourth hole when a bee stung him in the eye and forced him to head to the physios room, where he spent the next three hours holding an ice bag to his swollen face!
The 6ft 7in Bristol star, 28, was a top amateur, playing for England in some of Australias biggest events on a trip organised by the English Golf Union.
Wood, now the BMW PGA champion, will be again representing England this week along with fellow Ryder Cup rookie Andy Sullivan in an event that boasts 17 of the top 50 players.
And after shrugging off the storm over his decision to pick Sullivan ahead of Lee Westwood the man nominated by original England spearhead Danny Willett Wood cannot wait to get going.
He said: Im due a change of fortune at Kingston Heath after what happened there nine years ago. "Leaving with the World Cup trophy would be the perfect payback.
Ironically, given the fuss over me picking Sully, I was partnering Danny last time I was there.
Even with that bee sting, it was a good trip and Im really excited to be going back. Me and Sully had planned holidays with our wives before I got the late call to represent England and I asked him to join me.
I can understand Lee being a bit upset about being passed over so late but you never know how many World Cups you will play in.

Ive got so much respect for Lee but I just feel I will gel well with Sully. And what did I do wrong?
I didnt bump into Lee in Dubai, although there was plenty of banter from other guys on the practice range.
But Sullys in good heart because when he played with Rory McIlroy in Dubai they had a side bet with the loser buying dinner Sully won with an eagle at the last!
