Tyrrell Hatton won his first event on the European Tour at the Dunhill Links

TYRRELL HATTON stormed to a four-shot victory to win his first professional title at St Andrews.

The Buckinghamshire-born star, 24, fired a course record-equalling ten-under-par 62 on Saturday and kept up the stunning play with a six-under round today to finish 23 under overall at the Dunhill Links Championship.

Hatton started the final round at the Home of Golf with a three-shot lead and skipped to the turn in four under.

He reached six deep for the round with birdies on the 12th, 14th and 15th holes.

Hatton's second shot into the 17th ran into Hell bunker but he limited the damage to a bogey -his first dropped shot since the 12th hole of the second round - before parring the last.

Hatton said: "I've wanted this moment since I was a six-year-old, it's incredible.

"I was nervous all day and started to feel more comfortable down 14, 15 and I'm so happy I got over the line.

"Now it's the British Masters and I'm looking forward to that, but first we'll have a good night tonight."

England's Ross Fisher finished in a tie for second with South African Richard Sterne on 19 under.

Meanwhile, Danny Willett recovered from his "s***" Ryder Cup by winning the pro-am competition with caddie Jonathan Smart on a combined 38-under-par.

Willett, who missed the cut, said: "It's been great fun. I've not played great golf but this format is for the team. We dovetailed well.

"I'm glad we've had the week we've had. It's been brilliant."
