JURGEN KLOPP has slammed Gary Neville for suggesting Liverpool give up on the Champions League.
The Manchester United legend claimed last year's finalists should concentrate their focus on the Prem - because they have a chance of winning.
But Reds chief Klopp was bemused by the suggestion as he prepares to take on Tottenham tomorrow before hosting Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
He said: "How would that work? We dont play Champions League or what?
"Gary should come over and tell me exactly how that works. How do you prepare for a game when you dont focus on it? I dont understand, do we play our kids or what?
"I dont want to be too critical as I dont know exactly what or why he said it, but its a bit silly, sitting in an office talking about football, its different to doing the job."
Neville toldThe Times that Klopp should consider resting his star men midweek, especially with their high-pressing style.
He explained: "The Champions League - if I was Liverpool, I would kick it into touch.
"I know thats very hard to do but if they could go into February, March, April without it, I think they could have a real chance [of winning the league] if they had free weeks."
Dejan Lovren is nearing a return from injury after being hauled off just 31 minutes into the 4-1 defeat to Spurs.
But Klopp insisted the Croatian will be part of his plans when fit, adding: "He has come closer to his potential.
"I was never in doubt about Dejan. I could have changed 5 or 6 other players that day. I would never judge a player on 20 minutes of his life.
"There has not been too much talking about the situation [against Tottenham last year] and it was only about what I think about him. When he starts thinking the same about himself it could help him. My opinion is pretty high but his is pretty average.
"Unfortunately he is not fit at the moment but I am sure he will be back in a pretty intense period with seven games in the next three weeks."
