But ahead of their second-leg at the Bernabeu tonight, the Los Blancos coach says domestic football excites him more and believes his own players are also not as interested in dominating Europe.

He said: Winning the league makes me more excited, its the most difficult competition and I also think its what the players want.

But if you look at the clubs record in the Champions League youll see no-one has achieved what we have.

Real, though, are only fourth in La Liga, 15 points adrift of leaders Barcelona, with seven games left.

The wideman has suffered from more injuries, as well as doubts over his form, since arriving from Tottenham for 86million in 2013.

Manchester United have regularly been linked with the 28-year-old.

But Jonathan Barnett told ESPN: Gareth is a Real Madrid player and loves Real Madrid, and Real Madrid love Gareth.

But Ex-Real boss Jorge Valdano has led the most recent chorus of criticism over Bale.

Valdano said: Nothing that Bale does is worth 86m and he has only the number he plays with on his shirt.
