CHAMPIONS LEAGUE finals could be played OUTSIDE Europe for the first time.

But Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin revealed he would consider taking the final around the globe if the demand is there.

The Slovenian said: It is a global sport and the Champions League is the biggest football competition in the world.

Ceferin approved switching South Americas Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors to the Bernabeu last night after aggro forced the second leg to be postponed twice in Argentina.

The Uefa chief cannot imagine no European country being able to stage the final on safety grounds. But he did not rule out playing in Asia or the USA in the future.

Ceferin added: One billion people watch the Champions League final.

That is a serious number and I think now more than 50 per cent of those are outside Europe.
